Development Plan

A. Recently Completed Projects:

1. Construction of a Container Terminal at New-Mooring area of Chittagong Port. (Completed in 2008);
2. IDA funded Feasibility study for construction of one new ICD near Dhirasram Railway Station in Gazipur District (Completed in 2007); 
3. ADB funded Port Efficiency Improvement Project (PEIP). (Completed in September 2008).
4. Techno-Economic Feasibility Study for Deep Sea Port in Bangladesh (Completed in June 2009).

B. Ongoing Projects:

1. ADB Funded Chittagong Port Trade Facilitation Project (CPA Component) (Estimated Cost : Tk. 13000.00 Lakh);
2. Construction of Backup facilities behind berth no. 4 & 5 of New-Mooring Container Terminal (NCT) (Estimated Cost : Tk 11448.00 Lakh);
3. Capital dredging and Bank Protection Work with jetty facilities in Karnaphuli River from 3rd Karnaphuli Bridge to Sadarghat jetty (Estimated Cost: 37634.22);
4. Appointment of Private Global Terminal operator for operation & management of New-Mooring Container Terminal (NCT) on SOT basis;
5. Construction of one ICT at Pangaon (Estimated Cost: Tk 17757.00 Lakh);
6. Introduction of Personnel Management Information System (PMIS);
7. Installation of VTMIS. (Estimated Cost: 4500.00 Lakh);
8. Shifting and Reconstruction of Service Jetty located near Dock office to upstream of Jetty No, 1 within Chittagong Port restricted area (Estimated Cost: 6300.00 lakh);
9. Construction of one Multistoried vehicle parking shed for 5,500 units (Estimated Cost: 5000.00 lakh);
10. Replacement of River Mooring no. 3 and 4 by Dolphin Jetty (Estimated Cost: 6000.00 lakh).

C. Future Projects:

Short Term

1. Construction of Karnaphuli Container Terminal (KCT) at existing Jetty-11, 12 & 13 of Chittagong Port;
2. Preparation of a comprehensive Master Plan for Development of the Chittagong Port;
3. Procurement of vessels & crafts;
4. Construction of one Truck Terminal within the vicinity of port area;
5. Renovate X-Y shed area for FCL/LCL container stripping and build a large CFS.
6. Construction of a Modern Hospital.

Mid Term

1. Construction of a Multi-storied Vehicle Parking Shed.
2. Construction of Multipurpose berth with necessary back up facilities at existing jetty no. 7-10.
3. Creation of berthing facilities for inland vessels at the upstream of river Karnaphuli;
4. Procurement of one high powered Tug (4000 BHP);
5. Procurement of one Patrol Boat;

Long Term

1. Construction of Patenga Container Terminal (PCT) outside the port protected area of Chittagong Port;
2. Construction of a modern Container Terminal upstream of Khal no. 7;
3. Construction of one Truck Terminal near Chittagong Port Access Road (CPAR);
4. Construction a connecting road between CEPZ square and Baro Pole;
5. Develop specialized sheds and CFS for GCB in the Marine Workshop area;
